STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - The city of Stevens Point will unveil the newest addition to its artistic lighting project next week.
The artistic lighting project began in 2021 with an idea to personify light poles along the Green Circle Trail near Pfiffner Pioneer Park.
The newest light pole, “Salute To Service,” was designed by local artist Mackenzie Biadasz and built by local fabricator Andy Vollert.
The community is invited to attend a special unveiling event on Monday, May 26, along the Green Circle Trail on the Armed Forces Memorial Bridge. The event will begin at approximately noon, following the Memorial Day Service at the Pfiffner Pioneer Park bandshell.
“This started as a cool community-based idea and gathered momentum because of our generous community support. Everyone pulls together to make this happen,” said Mayor Wiza. “This one is particularly special since it stands as another tribute to those who step up in service to our community and country. Dedicating it on Memorial Day, on the Armed Services Memorial Bridge, saluting the flag and monuments beneath it seems quite fitting.”
